A concise modern retelling of the passage immediately following Wei Wenhou's rainy-day hunting appointment in Zizhi Tongjian, Volume 1. It preserves Han's request to attack Zhao, Zhao's matching request to attack Han, Wenhou's identical refusals, his mediation, and the resulting rise of Wei. The narration adds no events beyond the chronicle.
